Hot Chip Offers Why Make Sense?

Hot Chip’s New Album Why Make Sense? Via Color Sensitivity Test Site

Why Make Sense? Out Next Tuesday, May 19 on Domino

With its forthcoming May 19th release on Domino, Hot Chip are now streaming their new album Why Make Sense? in full now via a “color sensitivity” test site.

Visitors to the site can stream the album while testing their sensitivity to color hues, with a puzzle adapted from the Farnsworth-Munsell 100 hue color vision test.  Players can submit their scores and email addresses for a chance to win concert tickets and signed copies of the Deluxe LP.  The puzzle and site showcase an array of the Why Make Sense? design and color variants – through a new bespoke printing process, every first pressing copy features individually unique artwork.

Why Make Sense? features the acclaimed singles ‘Huarache Lights’ and ‘Need You Now,’ alongside the recently released title track – streamed via a mock-up news website coinciding with the UK’s general election – and Burning Up, taken from a bonus EP, Separate EP, released with the special edition of the album.

The new album was recorded in Oxfordshire and London and produced by Hot Chip with Mark Ralph and mixed by the band, David Wrench (FKA Twigs, Caribou) and Jimmy Douglass (Timbaland, Aaliyah). The album features guest appearances from De La Soul’s Posdnuos and Scritti Politti’s Green Gartside (Love Is The Future), as well as live instrumentation and backing vocals from touring band members Sarah Jones and Rob Smaughton.

Why Make Sense? will be available on all standard formats as well as a special edition available for a limited time only, featuring a bonus EP, Separate EP, with 4 new tracks recorded during the album sessions. All pre-orders come with an instant grat of Huarache Lights and Need You Now.

To coincide with the release of Why Make Sense?, Hot Chip have announced a series of worldwide tour dates commencing this week. The band will also be making a number of high profile festival appearances including Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, Sasquatch, Governor’s Ball, Sonar, Green Man and many more.
