ELIZABETH & THE CATAPULT ANNOUNCES NEW YEARS EVE SHOW IN NYC
JANUARY TOUR DATES WITH KISHI BASHI STRING QUARTET
Elizabeth & The Catapult is thrilled to announce a special New Years Eve performance at the band’s hometown venue, Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2. The show starts at 8pm and fellow ‘Catapulter’ Dear Georgiana will open the evening. Live shows continue into the new year as Elizabeth & The Catapult will be opening for the Kishi Bashi String Quartet for a run of dates in January.
Elizabeth & The Catapult released Like It Never Happened (Scratchback Records/Thirty Tigers) this year and has been praised by the NY Times, NPR Music, Nylon, Billboard, Paste, Mother Jones and more. Recently the band released the Michael Arthur animated video for “Happy Pop”, which debuted at The Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy Blog.

Arthur says the artwork for the “Happy Pop” video is cartoony and dreamy but also gritty and Brooklyn-based. “The song is a combination of hope and resignation tied up in a perfect pop palette,” he continues. “It reminded me of Kermit the Frog hopefully singing ‘Rainbow Connection’ out in the swamp or Charlie Brown trying to kick the football, really iconic simple cartoon images of optimism in the face of obstacles and indifference. But dressed up in the pep of a happy pop song.”
“‘Happy Pop’ is about making music for the right reasons,” says front-woman Elizabeth Ziman. “For yourself, your friends, your family… not to please the powers that be. And it’s about jamming in the subway, because that’s where the song was written.” The video even features the Church Avenue platform where she spent so many hours busking.
