Chicano Batman Brings Spring Tour

CHICANO BATMAN

ANNOUNCE SPRING TOUR DATES FOLLOWING AN IMPRESSIVE COACHELLA

CYCLES OF EXISTENTIAL RHYME OUT NOW

LA’s Chicano Batman is your sonic outlet from monotony back into the soul and in only four short months, the unsigned four-piece has already had quite a year. Following a run of dates opening for Jack White on his Lazaretto tour, the band recently blew away fans at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The quartet’s Latin-psych-slow-jam soul with a pinch of surf-rock cumbia was highlighted by everyone from Rolling Stone, LA Times, Paste and LA Weekly to Under The Radar and LAist. Noisey spoke to Bardo Martinez (Lead Vocals, Keyboards, Guitar) about the experience and you can read the feature HERE.

Chicano Batman are excited to return to the stage next week with a month of dates that take them up the coast for two Bay Area gigs, across to Chicago and then to NYC for a trio of performances. They return home on June 5 for a show at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles as a part of their “First Fridays 2015: Do-It-Yourself Science” Series. A full list of tour dates can be found below.

Chicano Batman released Cycles of Existential Rhyme last year on their own El Relleno Records and NPR Music’s Alt Latino included the sophomore full-length in their “Best of 2014” list. Ethnomusicologists in their own right, Chicano Batman are students of rhythm, globe trotting on a quest to reclaim and represent the musical roots of their past generations.

In homage to their favorite Latin American soul groups of the 70s, the quartet uniforms their act in retro ruffled-tuxedo shirts from a thrift store near you. Chicano Batman is more than a musical entity but an adventurous and opinionated group, who feeds off of community, afro-centricity and bolillos, on a mission to bring the overlooked to the forefront.
