Best Coast Offers California Nights
BEST COAST SHARES EXCLUSIVE FIRST LISTEN OF CALIFORNIA NIGHTS
PRESENTED BY BEST COAST/HARVEST RECORDS & TUMBLR IRL
New Album Out May 4th
BEST COAST are thrilled to share an exclusive first listen of their upcoming new album, California Nights, available to stream in full via Tumblr IRL. PRESS HERE to listen to the record before it’s released on May 4th (via Harvest Records), accompanied by artwork/visuals from Adam Harding inspired by the album. The livestream will be available from today through to Saturday May 2nd.
Comprised of Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno, the Californian duo’s third album is shaping up nicely to become 2015’s unofficial summer jam (according to Noisey, Entertainment Weekly, MTV and Consequence of Sound). Rolling Stone gave the record a raving review (★★★½) describing the album as having “bigger [and pretty glorious] sounds with sharper hooks.” The album is available for pre-order now. PRESS HERE to purchase via iTunes – all pre-orders come with an instant download of “Feeling Ok”, “Heaven Sent” and title track “California Nights.” Fans can also pre-order from the band’s store – HERE – and receive special limited merchandise and an autographed litho with their purchase.
Best Coast are also excited to announce a very special event – titled “California Daze” – taking place this Saturday, May 2nd from 1-5pm to celebrate the band’s upcoming release in their own unique way. The band are converting Oinkster’s parking lot in Hollywood, L.A. into a garage sale and party where fans can thrift from the band, purchase the new record, try Bobb’s signature California Nights burger and Bethany’s Belini Shake – proceeds from Bethany’s Belini shake will go to benefit the SPCALA who will also be on site for visitors interested in adopting a pet. The official “California Daze” flyer can be found below this release.
Early praise for Best Coast’s California Nights:
“California Nights” is as lightly psychedelic as the band’s new sound.” ★★★½ – Rolling Stone
“California Nights, offers a rousing, restless answer, peeling away the layers of haze to reveal a mature ambivalence that feels more sincere — and less forced — than anything Cosentino’s done since Crazy for You.” – Consequence of Sound
“California Nights takes the melodic tightness of Crazy for You and infuses it, start-to-finish, with clever, varied guitar work that almost makes you feel daft for thinking that the one-track distortion of their debut was the key component of the Best Coast sound.” 7.5/10 – The Line Of Best Fit
“Their new cut, “Feeling Ok,” is no different in that regard, shooting for the shoegazey stars with bold, sweeping guitar picking and Bethany Cosentino’s gorgeously layered vocals.” – SPIN
“Feeling Ok,” is another warm and fuzzy garage rock-ish number that is every bit as charming […] as what we’ve come to expect from the duo, but a portent of a bigger and more ambitious album to come.” – FADER
“[Heaven Sent’s] upbeat, electric guitar-laced tune sounds like the lovechild of Wilde’s “Kids In America” and Jett’s “Bad Reputation,” with a touch of The Go-Gos’ “Vacation.” – EW.com
“We’ll be playing [Heaven Sent] on loop until the full album comes out…” – MTV.com
“And holy shit, what a pretty song… Bethany Cosentino’s voice rings out with a clear, conversational sort of beauty.” – Stereogum
