Patrick Watson’s new album Love Songs for Robots is streaming now at NPR Music as a “First Listen.” Of the album, due May 12 via Domino Records, NPR Music explains, “an interest in mechanical function extends to curiosity about emotional wiring; about how our feelings are fueled by science as much as something more unknowable. Love Songs For Robots’ themes are a natural extension of that fascination, and of a singer-songwriter whose brain seems to overflow with wise and exacting ways to reflect on the way hearts work.”

Fifteen years after its initial release, Warner/Parlophone will release THE VIRGIN SUICIDES – 15TH ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION on June 16, featuring a remastered version of the original soundtrack, a pair of studio outtakes plus an unreleased live performance recorded at the Los Angeles American Legion Hall on January 22, 2000, and several tracks from KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic radio show with Nic Harcourt, also recorded in January 2000.

Continue readingToday Shamir has shared a new music video for “Darker,” a song taken from his upcoming debut release Ratchet. It’s a change of pace from his bouncy singles “On The Regular” and “Call It Off,” and showcases the Las Vegas native’s more spiritual side: “It doesn’t get darker, unless you expect it to.” In the music video, Shamir is alone in the Joshua Tree desert, singing as night magically turns into day into night again. Anthony Sylvester, who directed the video, used high-flying drones to film the entire performance.
