Adria’s “Pull Me Under” Debuts
Adria Premieres New Single “Pull Me Under” via PopMatters
Produced By Viktor Balter-Lundin and Matthew Wiggins (Adele, Florence and the Machine, Coldplay, Lorde)
The young Australian artist Adria has always had a fascination with the allure of water. “I’m attracted to its characteristics – strength, calmness, roughness, fluidity,” says the Australian artist. “It can be ruthless yet it can also be still and quiet which I like. It can take on so many different personalities which I think can be mirrored with human characteristics.” Adria’s debut single “Pull Me Under,” which premiered today at PopMatters, has the same elusive and captivating power.
The rhythmic, fluid elements of her music have their basis in her earliest artistic endeavors, as a dancer. She recalls, “I loved the classical music they’d play in ballet class so I tried to emulate it on piano. I’d record it then dance to it. Most of my ballads are quite ‘flowy’ because when I’m writing them I picture ballet and contemporary choreography in my mind.” With this innate musical vision, becoming a self-taught vocalist and pianist never seemed in doubt to Adria – “it was just something that came naturally and something I had always done. It’s like oxygen and water for me. I need it to survive.”
Adria spent the last two years traveling between Australia, Sweden, and London working on her music. For her latest release she teamed up with producers Viktor Balter-Lundin (Lykke Li) and Matthew Wiggins, who previously helped artists such as Adele, Coldplay, and Lana Del Ray develop their unique sound in the studio.
“Pull Me Under” will be officially released on November 25th in the U.S., and November 24th in Australia. Adria also plans to debut a music video for the track along with its release. Watch a hauntingly elegant teaser version of the video below.
