The Funeral Portrait’s The Dearly Departed Coming September 23rd

The Funeral Portrait Prove Gene Simmons Wrong

Five-piece “Theatre Rock” band The Funeral Portrait will release their debut EP For The Dearly Departed on 9/23 via Revival Recordings. Today, you can stream the record early, courtesy of ARTISTdirect.com.

In a recent review, writer Kaj Roth stated “Gene Simmons of Kiss recently said that rock is dead, perhaps he´s right when it comes to making the big bucks, but it´s far from being dead when we´re talking new promising bands. Because here´s a bright shining hope of the future, the Atlanta 5 piece The Funeral Portrait with their exciting debut ‘For the dearly departed’ EP.” Roth continued “If you´re a fan of theatrical rock in the same vein as SycAmour, The Venetia Fair and Chiodos. This album is a must buy for you. I feel like a child waiting to open his presents on christmas when I listen to songs like ‘Casanova’ and ‘Marrow.’ Bravo!”

The Funeral Portrait signed to Revival Recordings (owned by Shawn Milke of Alesana) earlier this month after recording For The Dearly Departed at Adelaide Recording Studios in Raleigh. The six song EP was produced by Milke and engineered/mixed by Neil Engle. The band is currently on the “Chaos Is A Ladder Tour” with Alesana, Megosh, and The Things They Carried. Dates and links to purchase tickets are listed below.

“Producing The Funeral Portrait record was an incredible experience,” says Milke. “It is so refreshing to be around a band that has a vision and is willing to put in the hard work and go the extra mile to bring that vision to life. Signing them was a no-brainer for me. The sky is truly the limit for TFP.”
